TESL Training and TESL Certificate

Chinese Culture Center offers both on-site and online TESL (Teach English as a Second Language) training and certification. On-site training is offered in Columbia, SC and the online training is offered through our website. If you are a program participant in our Teach English in China or summer camp/internship programs, the training is paid by a grant or your host school.  3 Credit Hours for TESL Training and Certification, 3 Credit Hours for Summer TESL Internship, and 6 Credit Hours for 10-12 months TESL Internship.

For those only interested in the TESL training and Certificate, the training fee is $450 per person. To apply, please complete the online registration form and follow the instructions on the submission page.

Onsite TESL training: Saturdays: October 15, 2011 - January 28, 2012 (15 classes, 30 hours)
Beginner's Mandarin Chinese and TESL (Teach English as a Second Language) Training.10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, $450 including a textbook and a workbook, USC Gambrell Hall, Classroom104. TESL Certificate will be awarded if you pass the 30-minute teaching presentation. 3 Credit Hours.

Online TESL Training and Internship: If you cannot come to the on-site training and presentation, you may take the online training at your own pace. When you have finished your first work contract in China successfully in our teaching in China program with satisfactory work performances (including the summer camp counselors), have scanned us a standard release/recommendation letter from your host school with the school's official stamp, and have emailed us an essay about your experiences in our teaching internship program, you'll receive a TESL Certificate.

TESL Certificate is a universal teaching credential. Most educational institutions ask for a TESL certificate as one of the basic qualifications for being an ESL teacher.

TESL Training covers educational psychology, teaching methods, classroom management, lesson plans, students’ motivation, comparison of American and Chinese educational systems, teaching demos and teaching presentation, as well as basic Chinese Language and Culture. The training is to get you ready to teach English as a second language in any classroom.
