Summer Camp Counselors

Time Frame: 4 weeks in July. Departure: First week of July. Return: First week of August
Location: Several major cities in China
Organizers: US Chinese Culture Center in Columbia, SC, with partner schools in China

Basic Qualifications for Counselors: College students, college graduates, and their friends, parents and family members, ages 18-65. Healthy native English speakers without any accent. Must have a valid passport. Children age 6 -17 can be campers with their family members as Counselors.

Benefits: 1000 RMB Yuan/week stipend. Free furnished apartment or hotel room (double occupancy for teachers), and free meals at the camps. Free sightseeing/tours in the camp city during your pre-camp training and/or weekends. Free Chinese classes. USCCC books your group-rate round-trip flights to China, and you are to pay for the airfare on your own.

Internship Credit Hours: 3 credit hours for summer internship, independent study, international study, study abroad, politics, governments, Chinese language, education, teaching, social work, Asian study, etc. 3 more credit hours for TESL Training.

TESL (Teach English as Second Language) Training: 30 class hours, 150 self-study hours training in Chinese Language, Chinese Culture and Customs, Chinese Educational Systems, Teaching Methods for teaching English as Second Language, and a 30-minute teaching presentation for TESL Certificate. 3 credit hours. If you can not come to the onsite training in Columbia, South Carolina, you may take the online training. When you have finished your first work contract in China successfully in our teaching in China program with satisfactory work performances, emailed us a short summary of your experiences in our teaching internship program, and posted it on your online blog, website or any ESL forum, you'll receive a TESL Certificate just as long-term teachers.

Camp Students/Campers: Elementary, and middle school students from both Chinese and American schools. Teachers and parents are welcome to go with their students as paid Summer Camp Counselors. Summer Camp Counselors are welcome to take their children and relatives to be campers on the same camp site.
