| The idea for a health tour came from our Director, Eric Jones, who went to China in March for attending the Conference on International Exchange of Professionals. At the same time, he sought some traditional medical treatment in China for his chronic bad shoulder. After 4 sessions of acupuncture and hot medicine-patch by Dr. Yao, his shoulder does not hurt any more, not even when he plays tennis! Amazed, he wants to go back to take care of his sciatica this time during the October Health Tour. |

| Lea's 74-year-old neighbor, Branning, has been suffering from obesity and diabetes for about 10 years. 6 months ago, his feet became swollen and broken: gangrene set in. He has a very good insurance plan, and his family doctor prescribed him several kinds of antibiotics and some ointment in a roll trying to heal his feet, but only made them deteriorate faster, and the gangrene even developed to his lower legs. He was about to lose his feet to amputation. Lea called Dr. Feng and Dr. Yao in China, and asked them for help to save Branning's feet. Both doctors prescribed some herb medicine for him: one kind for soaking his feet, the other for intake, and a bottle of ointment for external use. After only a few days' application of the Chinese medicine brought to Columbia by a new USC Ph. D student, Du Hai, from China on August 9, his feet healed! He could not believe that Chinese medicine could work such wonders in a matter of only a few days!!! |
