Dear Lea,

The trip was a wonderful experience and beyond my expectations. the variety of sights, the beauty of the natural views and the care that was taken on our behalf all contributed to a memorable trip. We are especially grateful to David and your sister for all that they contributed to making our travels more pleasant.

The food was excellent and the accomodation usually clean and certainly comfortable. The guides did much to facilitate our visits to various sites . We particularly enjoyed Anna at Urumchi, whose energy and enthusiasm made her a favorite. Like Anna, Lily and Helen were also wells informed and efficient. I cannot, however, say the same for Mark. In addition to being unable to find our hotel one night, he had little or no knowledge about the sites we visited, or the history of the area which was of particular interest to our group.

My pictures are still being developed but my memories of this trip will remain fresh for a long time. Thank you for all your efforts on our behalf.
